Take immediate steps to check global warming: Dikshit
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Mr Sandeep Dikshit (Cong) today demanded in the Lok Sabha the convening of an all party meeting to finalise immediate steps to check global warming which is threatening to deplete the Himalayan glaciers that would make the Ganges and the Yamuna to go dry in 20-30 years.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Dikshit said the latest United Nations' environment report had predicted that India and other tropical countries would be the worst affected by the fast changing climate.
Large areas of India would be turned into desert, threatening the very survival of the people, unless urgent measures were taken by the government, he said.
