Sub Treasury Officer caught redhanded while accepting bribe

Bangalore, Apr 26 (UNI) A Sub Treasury Officer of Harapanahalli in Davanagere District of Karnataka was caught red hand by Lokayukta officials while accepting bribe for showing official favour.

According to a Lokayukta release here today, N Poorvachar demanded Rs 7,500 from Primary Health Centre, Arasikere, Second Division Assistant M Halappa for giving his TA Bill cheque.

Mr Halappa agreed to give the bribe amount after getting the cheque.

However, Mr Halappa did not pay the bribe amount and Poorvachar stopped passing the salary bill for the month of March 2007 demanding bribe amount.

On receiving a complaint from Mr Halappa, Lokayukta laid a trap and arrested Poorvachar yesterday while accepting the bribe amount.

The arrested was remanded to Judicial custody.
