Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road to be opened on May 1

Srinagar, Apr 26 (UNI) The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, a part of the Srinagar-Leh national highway and an important link between the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region, would be thrown open for vehicular traffic from May 1, an official spokesman said today.

The road had been closed for vehicular traffic at the beginning of the winter season in November last year.

The Project Beacon of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which is responsible for the maintenance of the road, had worked overtime to clear the highway of snow and make it fit for vehicular traffic.
