Pratapgarh, Apr 26 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today criticised Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying he only made ''hollow promises.'' Addressing an election meeting here, Mr Singh said, ''the SP chief makes hollow promises...while basic necessities like water and power are lacking in his regime in UP, crime is at its peak.'' A person who cannot fulfil his promises does not deserve to be the CM, he noted.

''Mr Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati are busy announcing to put the other in jail, if they came to power,'' Mr Singh added.

''Mayawati, who always used abusive words for the upper castes, is now talking of 'equality' in the ongoing UP assembly poll.'' Congress, which has been unsuccessful in controlling poverty during its long rule since independence, is a private company affected with nepotism, Mr Singh alleged.

Maintaining only senior BJP leader Kalyan Singh could control the crime graph in UP, Mr Singh asserted the party would provide Rs one lakh for poor girls' marriages and loans to farmers at 6 per cent interest.
