Respite from heat wave continues, rise in mercury in coming days

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) The respite that Delhiites got yesterday from the heat wave conditions of last week continued today even as the weatherman forecast of scorching heat in coming days.

A heavy duststorm yesterday and an overcast sky today brought some relief to people from the hot conditions, the "breather" from the Summer heat persisted.

Though the minimum rose slihtly to 25.2 degrees C, the maximum was recorded at 39.3 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.

With the weather office forecasting isolated duststorm or thunderstorm in Delhi and other parts of Northwest India during the next 24 hours, the relief from heat is expected to continue tomorrow as well.

However, relief from prevailing heat wave conditions is likely only for a day or two as the weather office has forecast a gradual rise in day temperatures over Northwest India in the subsequent days.

Infact, the weather office has forecast heat wave conditions over many parts of Northwest towards the weekend.

The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with duststorms likely towards evenings.

The maximum is expected to rise to 40 degrees C tomorrow.

Yesterday afternoon's duststorm, that hit Delhi at a speed of 46 km per hour, brought down the maximum temperature, from 40.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday to 39.0 degrees C yesterday.

The minimum today also dropped considerably from 26.9 degrees C on Tuesday to 23.5 degrees C yesterday.

The drop in mercury came as a relief for Delhiites who have been experiencing scorching summer heat in Delhi over the last few days.

The Weatherman attrributed the storm and the build-up of clouds to aa local weather phenomenon caused by the presence of moisture in the atmosphere.
