Tripura: RD Ministry releases more than Rs 11 cr

Agartala, Apr 26: The Union Rural Development Ministry has released Rs 11.8 crore to Tripura under the Accelerated Rural Water Supply programme(ARWSP) for 2006-07.

In a sanction order issued by the Ministry's Deputy Secretary Manisha Verma said the amount was released for execution and completion of centrally sponsored schemes to provide safe drinking water facilities to rural habitations and schools under the ARWSP.

The letter stated that the priorities set in ARWSP guidelines and through other instructions issued from time to time should be followed for coverage of rural habitations and rural schools.

Of the total sum sanctioned, up to 15 per cent of the funds may be utilised for operation and maintenance and up to five per cent may be spent for taking sustainability measures, the letter stated.
