Rahul visits Gurdwara
Sultanpur, Apr 26 (UNI) Taking a little time off from his hectic roadshow in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly poll, Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi today paid obeisance at a Gurdwara in Sikh Basti locality here.
He was invited inside the Gurdwara by the Sikh community members, when he arrived in the area for canvassing. Rahul observed 'ardaas' and bowed before the revered 'Guru Granth Sahib'.
He was also presented with a 'saropa' by the Granthi.
The young Congress leader spent close to 15 minutes in the place of workship and even obliged children with autographs.
Rahul had arrived here around 1530 hrs by helicopter to address a series of election meetings.
Addressing the gatherings, he exhorted the people to vote for Congress, if they wanted development in the area.
The Congress leader observed he found no difference in Rae Bareli, Sultanpur and Amethi constituencies. Congress president and Rahul's mother Sonia Gandhi represents Rae Bareli in Parliament.
''For composite development, you need more Congress MLAs and MPs from the area, therefore, vote for us,'' he made a fervent appeal in his roadshows.
Since, the canvassing for the fifth phase of polling was slated to end at 1700 hrs, Rahul wrapped up his programme well within time and left Sultanpur.
