NCC in Kerala slated for expansion

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 26 (UNI) NCC in Kerala is slated for expansion with new raisings in various parts of the state.

With the objective of popularising NCC and to spread NCC to rural and backward areas of the state, a new NCC group headquarters is proposed at Kannur along with one NCC battalion each in Kasaragod, Wayanad, Idukki and one Air Squadron in Kochi.

The proposals have been taken up with the Kerala Government and the Director-General NCC, New Delhi, an official press release said today.

State Education Minister M A Baby, who addressed the annual NCC Battalion Commanders' conference here today, said he had discussed these matters with Defence Minister A K Antony during his recent visit to Delhi.

All five group commanders, 39 battalion commanders and staff officers belonging to the Army, Navy and Air Force attended the day-long conference, the release added.
