MP Govt to frame sugarcane policy
Bhopal, Apr 26 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to frame sugarcane policy before next season keeping in view the welfare of sugarcane producing farmers and sugar manufacturers.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who reviewed the problems of sugarcane growers at a high-level meeting here yesterday, directed the officials to ensure electricity supply for sugarcane crushing and to monitor purchase of sugarcane by the mills to check irregularities.
He said arrangements for sugar production should be ensured if sugarcane stock was available even after May 31.
State Planning Board Vice Chairman Sompal Shastri, while briefing about discussion held with the managements of private sugar mills, said sugarcane crushing and sugar production would continue till May 31.
