Monthly assistance to missing fishermen families: CM

Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 each to the families of 12 fishermen from Kanniyakumari district who were reported missing for the last one-and-a-half months.

Replying to the demand for grant for police department in the Assembly, he said the assistance would be given to the families till they return or till their whereabouts were known.

The 12 fishermen had ventured into the sea in the first week of March. and since then they ave missing.

The search operations were continuing, he added.
