Met office forecasts thundershowers in Kolkata

Kolkata, Apr 26 (UNI) Kolkatans today woke up to a partly cloudy sky and pleasant breeze which provided some relief from the sweltering heat.

The Alipore Met department has forecast thundershowers in some parts of the state towards evening.

For the past few weeks, Kolkatans had been suffering from the oppressive April heat. To add to their woes there had been rampant loadshedding in many parts of the city.

Today's maximum temperature was 35 degrees Celsius and minimum 27.9 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was 86 per cent.

Meanwhile, Purulia district today recorded the hottest day this season with the mercury touching 43.3 degrees Celsius.

''Yesterday's maximum temperature was 43.1 degrees Celsius,'' district officials said adding the people will have to face such conditions for a few more days.
