LS adjourned over OBC quota and other issues

New Delhi, Apr 26: The Lok Sabha was today adjourned for nearly 45 minutes on the opening day of the resumed Budget session when members belonging to the treasury benches sought to raise the Katara detention and OBC quota issues, among others.

After the house condoled the death of four former members of the Lok Sabha and the Chair made a reference about the detention of BJP MP Babu Bhai Katara in a human trafficking case, DMK, PMK, MDMK and Congress members from Tamil Nadu were on their feet seeking to raise the OBC quota issue.

They were supported by the Rashtriya Janata Dal members who rushed menacingly towards the well of the House.

Simultaneously, a section of the members from the Congress and the Left parties also sought to raise some issues, but nothing could be heard in the din.

When the chair's repeated effort to restore order failed, speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the House till 1200 hrs.
