Japan grants Rs 537 mln to Nepal

Kathmandu, Apr 26 (UNI) Japan has granted Rs 537 million for implementing 12 projects in Nepal.

According to a press release issued yesterday by the Japanese Embassy, Rs 253,480,000 will be used under the sector of reconstruction, rehabilitation and development of rural Areas, including rural infrastructure, road transport and electrification.

Other projects include suspension bridge, road, rural electrification, drinking water and sanitation, disaster management, education and agriculture.

The Government of Japan, "based on the request made by the Government of Nepal," approved the utilisation of the money under the "Counterpart Fund of Non-Project Grant Aid," the press release said.

Japan is the major donor of Nepal's socio-economic development.
