Inquiry into rape case by troops completed
Imphal, Apr 26 (UNI) The Court of Inquiry conducted by the Assam Rifles (AR) into the alleged rape of an 18-year old girl at Kotlien, by a jawan of 38 Assam Rifles on March 13, has been completed, AR authorities have said.
The accused, identified as Nanthuipou Gangmei, would be tried under Section 125 of the Army Act.
The Kuki Students' Organisation has decided to call off a general strike which was scheduled to be held today.
However, it would launch an economic blockade on NH 39 and 53 from the midnight of April 27 if the government did not shift the AR postings from Kotlien and grant a lifetime gratuity to the victim.
