India working for non-proliferation: President
Athens, Apr 26: Stating that India was working relentlessly for nuclear non-proliferation, President A P J Abdul Kalam today declared the country's commitment to the 'no-first use' doctrine.
"We support complete nuclear disarmament...the initiative to achieve this objective must come from the countries with the largest number of nuclear weapons,'' he said at an interaction with the media along with Greek President Karlos Ppooulios after the two countries signed two agreements pertaining to cooperation in science and technology and promotion of bilateral investments.
Dr Kalam said India's record in the last 60 years proved beyond doubt its commitment to the no-first use doctrine.
On the Iranian nuclear imbroglio, he said India stood for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
