High Court rejects MLA's bail petition

Patna, Apr 26 (UNI) Patna High Court today dismissed the regular bail petition of suspended JD(U) MLA from Piro, Sunil Pandey, in connection with an extortion case.

A single bench of justice Sadanand Mukherjee dismissed the bail petition after hearing arguments of both sides.

According to the charges, Mr Pandey, along with his supporters, had barged into the office of construction manager of Vijay Electricals Limited, J V Naidu, in Aurangabad on August 24, 2006. He had also threatened company general manager K Rao to pay him five per cent of the contract value of the rural electrification works, or be prepared to face the consequences.

The Vijay Electricals Limited had been given contract for executing rural electrification work in several districts of Bihar, including Aurangabad.

A case in this regard was lodged at Town police station in Aurangabad district on August 28, 2006. Mr Pandey was presently lodged in Patna's Beur jail in connection with the case.
