Chennai, Apr 26: Leading information enabling and system integration company HCL Infosystems launched its new range of notebook computers featuring 'Embedded Continuity and Control (EC2) technology in the city today.

Named the 'HCL Non Stop Series,' the new EC2 enabled Leaptop notebooks were self-healing computers, capable to recover all data in less than a minute in case of a system crash or accidental loss of data by the user.

According to the EC2 technology, a laptop with EC2 automatically stores and updates a complete image of its own working state at regular intervals.

This image was a complete record of all data, including software and user data, residing inside the computer at any given point of time.

In case of system crash, malfunction or accidental loss of data, a user can simply reload the previously recorded image and thus have the computer working exactly like it was when the image was recorded.

Speaking to mediapersons at the launch of HCL 'Non-stop series' PCs, Company Executive Vice-President George Paul said "reserach has suggested that 95 per cent of all problems with PCs are software related and include accidental deletion of critical data, corruption of various software or even virus-related system crash." "HCL is therefore glad to offer this global innovation as a tremendous value-addition to the buyers of 'Non-stop Series' of Leaptop notebooks," he added.

"HCL has announced ready availability of 'Non-Stop Series' of leaptops all over the country''. The price range starting from Rs 27,990, he added.
