Haryana to diversify tourism activities
Chandigarh, Apr 26 (UNI) The Haryana Government has earmarked a sum of five crore under the 11th Five Year Plan and Rs 55 lakh for Annual Plan during the current financial year for diversification and promotion of tourism activities in the state.
Minister of State for Tourism and Forests Kiran Chaudhry said the state government was making all out efforts to promote Haryana as tourism destination.
To achieve this objective, she said funds worth Rs two crore had been earmarked in the 11th Five Year Plan and a sum of Rs 30 lakh had been proposed for the Annual Plan.
She said funds had also been proposed for innovative projects and engaging of consultancy services and modernisation and upgradation of sound and light show at Jyotisar. An amount of Rs 1 crore had been earmarked in the 11th Five year Plan and Rs 7 lakh in the Annual Plan for this purpose.
The Minister said the State Government had also been taking timely steps for promoting rural tourism in various tourist complexes for the State for giving a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of Haryana pertaining to the rural life.
She said that for modernisation and upgradation of skill of the staff and their exposure an amount of Rs 25 lakh had been proposed in the 11th Five Year Plan and Rs 1 lakh in the Annual lan. A sum of Rs 1 crore had been provided under the 11th Five Year Plan and Rs 15 lakh in the Annual Plan for the computerisation and online system of all the tourist complexes.
