Ganashakti's veteran scribe Saral Sen dies

Kolkata, Apr 26 (UNI) Veteran scribe and former president of Calcutta Journalists Club Saral Sen died this evening following a massive cardiac arrest.

He was 76 and had served Bengali daily Ganashakti, the mouthpiece of the CPI (M), until his death.

He breathed last at Ganashakti office, Calcutta Journalist Club's joint secretary Prantik Sen said in a statement.

Sen had served twice as president of the CJC and was also elected general secretary of the club.

He came into limelight in the 60s for his serialised stories of "Berlin's Chittie (letter)" in the defunct Bengali daily-Jugantar- during his stay in that country.

CJC's president and general secretary Himanshu Chatterjee and Nirmalendu Karmakar respectively condoled the death of the scribe.
