Fake encounter in Gujarat results in LS adjournment
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Treasury benches today forced the adjournment of the Lok Sabha for about 10 minutes during zero hour on the issue of the killing of a person in a fake police encounter in Gujarat recently.
Raising the issue, Mr Madhusudan Mistry (Cong) demanded a statement from Home Minister Shivraj Patil and a CBI inquiry into the encounter that took place in Gandhinagar, the Lok Sabha constituency of former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.
Mr Mistry found support for his demand from several ruling party members, including Mr Jagdish Tytler, and Mr Krishna Das, Mr Mohammed Salim and other Left leaders. All these members were on their feet, trying to make their points of view at the same time.
Some of the BJP members also tried to counter the contention of Mr Mistry and others, adding to the disorder.
Sensing the mood of the members, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee adjourned the House at 1250 hrs for an early lunch break.
