EU expects no breakthrough in Thursday Iran talks
ANKARA, Apr 26 (Reuters) The European Union's foreign policy chief Javier Solana said he did not expect a breakthrough in his talks with Iran today over Tehran's nuclear programme, but said he hoped the talks would continue.
''We will not be in a position to make a great breakthrough during this visit (to Ankara). But we hope we will be able to continue,'' he told reporters before heading for more talks with Iran's nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani.
Yesterday, Solana and Larijani said they had made progress. The talks are designed to end a standoff over Iran's uranium enrichment programme that the West fears could be used to make nuclear weapons.
