ECS in AP circle by July 31: IT Chief Commissioner
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, April 26 (UNI) The Income Tax Department would extend the Electronic Clearance Service (ECS) throughout Andhra Pradesh by July 31 this year, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (AP Circle), D V Dharmik said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Dharmik said the Department had already implemented this facility in Hyderabad. Under ECS, the IT transactions would be carried out only through banks, he said adding that all Income Tax offices in the state would be inter-linked with Banks to implement ECS.
With the introduction of ECS, the assessment would be completed within 15 days, he informed.
He said the Income Tax Department has fixed a collection target of Rs 12,500 crores during 2007-08 financial year.
Pointing out that various circles of Income tax, in the country mainly concentrated the tax collection through corporate sectors.
However, the AP circle concentrated on non-corporate sector.
In Eluru range alone the income had risen to 83 crore. The Chief commissioner said the Department had collected Rs 2,500 crore through Tax deduction at Source (TDS), last year.
