Detective agencies to come under licensing system: Cabinet

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the introduction of the Private Detective Agencies (Regulation) Bill 2007 in Parliament to regulate the Private Detective Agencies through a system of mandatory licensing.

This legislation will ensure that they work within the ambit of legal framework and accountable to a regulatory authority, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for the introduction of the Collection of Statistics Bill, 2007 in Parliament and for repealing the Collection of Statistics Act, 1953.

It will help in facilitating better management of statistical data collection for more effective planning and policy formulation.

Another approval related a proposal to pursue the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Bill, 2005 pending in the Lok Sabha and to move certain amendments to this Bill based on the recommendations of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee.
