Fatehpur, Apr 26: Notwithstanding elaborate preparations by the Election Commission (EC) to mitigate influence of dreaded outlaws Dadua and Thokia on the Uttar Pradesh assembly poll, they are trying every trick to outwit EC.

Dadua and Thokia have emerged smarter than the Uttar Pradesh Police by avoiding their detection by electronic serveillance. The ganglords have stopped using mobile phones and instead switched to communicating through landline.

Earlier, the political parties had demanded Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami to take stock of the situation in respective areas of influence of Dadua and Thokia and take appropriate measures to nullify their diktats to voters.

In this regard, the Commission has deputed senior IPS officer Amitabh Yash with adequate police force to the ravines as part of a special drive against the elusive duo.

Talking to sources over the phone, Mr Yash said ''to a large extent, we have had success in our drive. Soon, we will soon be able to record their communication through the basic phone too.'' He added those hand-in-glove with the notorious dacoits are being identified and will be taken to task, regardless of their status.

Last year, UP Police had eliminated hardened dacoit Nirbhay Gujjar with the same technique of electronic tagging.
