Crash rate of fighter planes has come down: Antony

New Delhi, Apr 26: The crash rate of fighter planes has shown a substantive decline in the last couple of years, Defence Minister A K Antony told the Lok Sabha today. Responding to a written question in the lower House of Parliament, Mr Antony said a comparison of crash rate with other countries may not give a correct picture as different air forces in the world would use different kind of aircrafts and fly in different environment.

He said efforts are being made to enhance and upgrade flight safety. While pilots are also being trained to improve their skills.

Constant interaction with Original Equiment manufacturers (OEMs), both indigenous and foreign, is also being maintained to overcome the technical snags in the aricrafts. Besides, measures are also being undertaken to avoid bird related accidents, Mr Antony said.
