Cops suspended after custody death

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 26 (UNI) A station house officer (SHO) and head constable have been suspended and a magisterial probe ordered after a 40-year-old man, suspected of being a murderer, hanged himself at Kanker district's Pankhajur Police Station where he had been brought for questioning, police said today.

Dulerbalra committed suicide in the toilet yesterday.

Disciplinary action was taken against SHO G P Arya and Head Constable Sukhdev.

Pankhajur's Gautam Biswas (25) went missing on April 7 and a report was registered three days later. Biswas worked at Dulerbalra's residence and had a dispute with him.

The suspension order was issued by Superintendent of Police V K Choubey following a directive from Inspector-General R K Vij.
