Construction workers observe fast to press demands

Chennai, Apr 26 (UNI) Members of the Tamilaga Bharathi Constructions Workers and unorganised Labour State Union led by President K V Priyadarshan observed a day's fast here today, to draw the State Government's attention to resolve their long pending demands.

In a statement, State General Secretary of the Union P Premalata demanded restructuring of the unorganised sector of Labour Welfare Board by opening new offices at Taluk levels with adequate infrastructure facilities.

She also a sought monthly pension of Rs 1,000, increase marriage assistance to Rs 15,000, three per cent budget allocation for unorganised sector labourers and membership renewal period be made once in five years.
