Kathmandu, Apr 26: Political parties and the civil society of Nepal today protested the security provided to suspended King Gyanendra on his visit to a temple and the salute offered to him with the music of previous national anthem.

The Communist Party of Nepal(Maoist) Parliamentary Party has asked the Prime Minister to make clear about the king's Dakshinkali visit, saying that King Gyanendra found guilty by the Rayamajhi Commission, had to be punished but was offered salute and given full security as previously.

"Such incidents will fade the extreme desire of people for republic", the party said in a statement issued here.

Similarly, Civil Society leaders also protested the security provided to the suspended King during his visit to the temple.

King Gyanendra, who seized power from elected government and ruled the country as a dictator until last year, has been suspended in the new constitution promulgated in January this year.
