Civil Secretariat at Jammu closes on Apr 27
Jammu, Apr 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat and other related 'darbar move' offices will close here in this winter capital tomorrow to reopen at Srinagar on May 7.
However, the main wing of the J and K High Court and office of the Registrar Vigilance will close here on April 28 and re-open at Srinagar on May 7, official sources said.
Elaborate arrangements for the shifting of official records, as well as over 7,000 employees, from Jammu to the summer capital in Kashmir valley have been made, sources said.
''Everything has been finalised to transport official records and employees from Jammu to Srinagar under a tight security,'' sources said. IGP Traffic has been directed to coordinate with Army and Beacon for smooth movement of 'darbar move' convoy.
The State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) has been engaged for transportation of official records and employees. ''To facilitate the booking for 'darbar move' employees, a special ticket counter has been opened at the Civil Secretariat,'' sources said.
There will be one way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar on April 28- 29 and May 5-6.
A crane and a mobile workshop will also accompany the 'darbar move' convoy.
The bi-annual 'darbar move' practice between Jammu and Srinagar was started in 1872 during the period of Dogra ruler Maharaja Ranbir Singh.
