BEIJING, Apr 26 (Reuters) China's economic indicators for the first quarter, which showed gross domestic product expanding by 11.1 percent from a year earlier, do not suggest that the economy is overheating, a top official said on Thursday.

Zhu Hongren, vice head of the economic operation department of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), also told a news conference that the strain on China's power supply and demand bottlenecks were easing, though problems could appear in some sectors in future.

Some manufacturing centres have been hit by electricity brownouts in recent years, especially in the summer months.

Officials with the statistics bureau said on releasing the economic data last week that there still remained the risk that the economy would go from rapid growth to overheating.
