Kolkata, Apr 26 (UNI) A three-member high level delegation of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee today met Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and urged him to convene an all-party meeting to restore peace at Nandigram.

''We requested the Governor to call an all-party meeting, so that peace is restored in Nandigram. We do not have faith in the administration,'' PCC Working President Pradip Bhattacharjee said after coming out of the Raj Bhavan.

Mr Bhattacharjee was accompanied by Congress Legislature Party leader Manas Bhunia and former PCC chief Somen Mitra.

The PCC leaders met the Governor a day after Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee renewed his appeal to the opposition to participate in the next all-party meeting at Nandigram.

After the March 14 police firing, the government called an all party meeting at least thrice, the last time being on April 22. But all of them fell through because of non-participation of the opposition parties.

Mr Bhattacharjee alleged that while the Chief Minister was making appeals to the opposition, armed CPI(M) supporters continued to attack Nandigram from outside and the administration remained a spectator.

Making a similar allegation Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee also virtually ruled out yesterday the possibility of her party taking part in any such meeting, convened by the government.

She urged the Chief Minister to ensure that CPI(M) men first stop ''violence''.
