Agartala, Apr 26: The four-day high level meeting of Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles(BDR) ended at Chittagong in Bangladesh yesterday where a number of important issues were discussed.

Inspector General of BSF, Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier P K Mishra told this at a press conference at Belonia in Tripura's south district yesterday after returning from Chittagong that the BDR had assured the BSF officials that it would not allow any Indian insurgents group to continue activities from their country.

Mr Mishra said that the bilateral talks between the two neighbouring countries were held in a cordial atmoshphere.

The BSF jawans sought cooperation from its Bangladeshi counterpart for containing the transborder crime and to complete the ongoing works for erection of barbed wire fencing on the international border.

The BSF also requested the BDR delegation to demolish the Indian insurgents' base camps and training camps in their country, as the ultras operated in Indian side and took refuge in the other country after commiting the crimes.

On March 3 during the Director General level meeting at New Delhi , the Indian side handed over a list to its counterpart for demolishing 176 base camps and training centres set up by various Indian outfit groups.

Of this, 58 camps belonged to the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger force (ATTF).

BSF officials demanded action against 72 leaders of various banned outfits and 79 active militant collaborators living in that country. The BDR, however, assured that if any such group operated from their country, it would not allow to continue their activities from that land.

Though the BDR in a number of places raised objection to erection of fencing along the international border, they agreed that due to erection of such fencing, transborder crimes had reduced.

Mr Mishra led the 17 Indian delegation while the Bangladesh side was led by Brigadier General S M Golam Rubbani.
