New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) BJP Councillor Vijender Gupta today said the process for designating more roads in Delhi, in addition to the 2538 notified earlier, as commercial and mixed use streets would be speeded up in the coming days to provide relief to people of the capital from sealing.

Talking to UNI here after filing his nomination for the post of Chairman of the MCD standing committee, for which he is almost certain to be elected given the huge majority enjoyed by the BJP in the Standing Committee, Mr Gupta said,''the process for survey of additional roads to be designated as commercial and mixed use areas is already on and we are hopeful of these roads being notified soon.'' It is notable that the 2021 Delhi Master Plan, notified by the Union ministry for Urban Development on February 7, provides for notifying more areas in Delhi as commercial or mixed use areas within a period of three months from the date of its notification.'' Mr Gupta said among the other priorities of the BJP Government would be introduction of a one-time amnesty scheme for providing relief from sealing to traders.

In this context, he said the party would pursue with the authorities concerned the issue of desealing of those shops whose owners had stopped the misuse of their units.

''To address the grievance of these traders, we will set up a committee which will go into these cases as well as set up camps in various areas where the aggrieved could register their complaints,''Mr Gupta said.

Mr Gupta said that the party would also make efforts to shore up the internal revenues of the MCD from various heads like the property tax arrears from various Government and private bodies.

Efforts would also be made to imrove the infrastructure in the primary schools run by the MCD and ensure that they were brought on par with the public schools. On the Delhi government's proposal to take up the management of the MCD schools, he said this would not be allowed at any cost.

Mr Yogender Chandelia of the BJP filed his nomination as Deputy Chairman of the Standing committee.

With the BJP having 15 members in the 18-member Standing committee, Mr Gupta and Mr Chandelia are almost certain to become chairman of the Committee.
