BJP calls for impartial action against erring MPs
New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Maintaining its tough line on illegal activities of parliamentarians, the BJP today said Parliament should initiate ''uniform action'' against erring MPs.
BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said his party has accepted the decision taken at the all party meeting convened by the Speaker.
As soon as party MP from Dahod Babu Bhai Katara was caught red handed in a human trafficking case, the party had distanced itself from him, Mr Malhotra added.
However, Parliament should act impartially when dealing with such members irrespective of their political affiliations, he said pointing towards the lenient posture taken towards the MPs involved in the JMM bribery case.
''Money was paid and accepted. Parliament should have acted against this unethical action. Had the Parliament acted at that time itself, things would have been alright but those MPs not only completed their terms in Parliament but returned to Parliament to become ministers,'' he said.
