Panaji, Apr 26 (UNI) The BJP has accused the Congress-led government in Goa of misusing the official machinery in violation of the election code of conduct in force since April 18 for the June 2 assembly polls.

The BJP has rushed a letter to Chief Election Commissioner in this regard, state BJP spokesperson Rajendra Arlekar informed while speaking to reporters here today.

The party, he said, asked the CEC to intervene to ensure free and fair polls in Goa.

Mr Arelkar has alleged that the Congress, in violation of the election code of conduct, issued appointment letters to five teachers and ten lower division clerks in the education department on April 20.

Under the Indira Awas Yojana, the Government has distributed cheques to beneficiaries on April 24, the BJP has said.

Meanwhile, Mr Arlekar ridiculed the Congress for trying to forge an alliance with the NCP, saying it was doing so since it had lost confidence to face the elections on its own.
