Babli project 'harmful' to AP: CPI
Vijayawada, Apr 26: The Communist Party of India (CPI) today alleged that the construction of Babli project across river Godavari by Maharashtra Government was 'harmful' to Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a newsconference here, CPI State Secretary K Narayana urged Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to take initiative to halt the Babli barrage work.
He alleged that the TDP and the Congress in the state were divided on the issue to gain political mileage.
Appealing to the Chief Minister to call an all-party meeting for discussing the issue, he said the CPI and CPI(M) leaders were not participating in today's Dharna alongwith TDP at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in front of the Parliament.
