Urban Ministry allocates Rs 132 cr for infrastructure
Shillong, Apr 25 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Urban Development has allocated Rs 132 crore during 2006-07 for infrastructure development of the North Eastern states under the scheme of Lump Sum Provision.
Official sources today said Rs 99.65 crore was released till December 31, 2006.
The amount included fund, released towards second and third instalment in respect of ongoing projects sanctioned earlier. The schemes included construction and improvement of roads, parking and market places, infrastructure development of towns, construction of drainage systems and augmentation of water supply schemes.
Besides, 18 new schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 148.90 crore were sanctioned till December 31, 2006.
Ten per cent of the Annual Plan Budget of the Ministry was earmarked for implementation of the projects/schemes for the NE states, the official said.
