Uganda National sentenced to ten-years RI
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A special NDPS court today sentenced a Ugandian woman to 10-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed an fine of Rs two lakh for smuggling 'Heroin' to Uganda from India in 2002.
Pronouncing the verdict here, the Additional Session Court Judge P B Sawant said accused Hawa Nancongo, was held guilty under NDPS act to undergo 10-years RI and pay fine of Rs two lakh, in default she will have to undergo further RI for one-year.
On November 11, 2002, Air Intellegence Unit (AIU) had intercepted has while boarding a flight for Uganda. During search of her belongings they had seized 3.961 gms Heroin concealed in the three hotpots.
Hawa was working in Ohino market in Uganda, where she came in contact with one Madina, Madina introduced her to Peter in India, who was engaged in drug smuggling business.
Thereafter, Madina told her that she will give her one thousand US Dollars if she would succeed in smuggling the drug to Uganda.
Madina provided her return Air tickets and fifty US Dollars.
