" We hope to see more business missions in specific industrial sectors in the next nine months, " Mr Dale Tasharski, Deputy Commercial Conselor, US Commercial Service today said.

While participating in an interactive session with the members of Indian Chamber of Commerce here, Mr Tasharski said companies in the South Florida region, which had been more focussed with business with Latin American countries, were looking at opportunities in India.

The areas they were looking for business were telecom, high technology instruments, aviation, Defence equipment, agro-business and healthcare sectors, he said.

In the eastern region, the US companies were looking for collaboration in food processing, packaging, energy and medicine, Mr Tasharasky said.

The US Embassy had already set up a separate commercial service department in the Kolkata Consulate keeping in view the increasing interest among American investors to do business in the eastern region, he added.

ICC president S K Bangur said the chamber was planning to take a delegation to the US between June 28 and 30 taking advantage of the growing interest among US companies to do business in the eastern region.

The delegation, comprising representatives from real estate, agro and food industry sectors, would visit Detroit at the time of the World Bengali Conference in the US, he informed.

The chamber had requested Commerce and Industry Minister Nirupam Sen, likely to be in the country, to be part of the delegation.
