TDP demands high-level enquiry into Katara case
Hyderabad, Apr 25 (UNI) Expressing concern over the role of MPs in the recent human trafficking case, the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded the Centre order a high-level enquiry into the involvement of all MPs and MLAs and disqualify those involved in the racket.
Speaking to newspersons here, senior TDP leader and former Union Minister K Yerran Naidu said, ''trafficking of women and children is considered a serious issue in our country. Who will protect the country if the people's representatives are involved in such kind of anti-constitutional activities.'' Urging the Centre to disqualify and prosecute the culprits immediately, Mr Naidu said the accused should also be refrained from contesting elections in the future.
Referring to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's assets case, the TDP leader said the party would submit a representation to the Election Commission (EC) on the 'false' affidavits submitted by Dr Reddy to EC during the 2004 assembly elections.
