Shilpa can't be jailed for pecks on cheeks

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) The spokesman for Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, Dale Bhagwagar clarified that she had not received orders or summons from a district court in Rajasthan asking her not to leave India.

Reacting to a report in a section of the media on Sunday, of Alwar district court in Rajasthan that asked Shetty not to leave the country till it decides on the petition filed by two advocates against her, Dale said Shilpa has inadvertently been in the news for some reason or the other.

Certain lawyers from various parts of the country have even filed cases against her after she received Richard Gere's pecks (terming them as ''obscene kisses'') at an event to promote AIDS awareness.

Responding to the report quoting a Police official from Jaipur saying that ''If proven guilty, Gere and Shetty could be sentenced to six years imprisonment,'' he said it was amateur and frivolous on the part of a government official to state that someone can get jailed for pecks on the cheeks. ''If that is the case, more than half the country will have to be jailed,'' quipped Bhagwagar.

Shilpa, who is currently out of Mumbai, will be returning by the end of the week, he said.
