Rekha Mahajan had said Praveen fired bullet: Pragnya

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Ms Pragnya, wife of BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde, today deposed in the trial court that Rekha Mahajan had told her that accused Praveen had fired bullets at Rekha's husband Pramod Mahajan.

Deposing before Additional Sessions Court Judge S P Davare, who is presiding over the trial, Ms Pragnya said after going to Pramod's flat at Worli, she had asked Rekhabhabhi, what happened and Rekha had said that Praveen had fired bullets at Pramod Mahajan.

Replying to another query raised by Special Public Prosecutor Ujwal Nikam, the witness said at about 0800 hours on April 22, last year, Rekha had rung the door bell of her flat. When she opened the door she saw Ms Rekha was crying and said 'Tya Melyani Pramod Over Glya Ghatlya Ho.'' Therefore, she rushed to Pramod's flat alongwith Rekha.

When the Baniyan and Dupatta was shown to her for identification, she could not control her emotions and started crying in the witness box itself. She had identified the Dupatta, which was rapped around the injuries of Pramod. She, however said this is the similar baniyan, which was worn by Pramod on the day of the incident.

Earlier, Munde was grilled by defence advocate Harshad Ponda over the gap of recording the statement by police.

To a query, Mr Munde said neither he remembered that any police personnel had came to hospital nor he had asked the Worli police to see him for recording his statement pertaining to murder case of Pramod Mahajan till April 27.
