PSA against 9 detainees quashed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 25 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of nine people who were arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

A Division Bench quashed the PSA against Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Ghulam Nabi Mir, Mohammad Yaseen Dar, Mohammad Iqbal Butt, Mohammad Iqbal Yatoo, Manzoor Ahmad Najar, Zahoor Ahmad Ganie, Murtaza Aqib and Mehraj-u-din Farash.

Passing the order, the court observed that the charges under which these people were imprisoned were not proved and, therefore, their detention was illegal.

The court ordered the authorities concerned to immediately set the detainees free.
