Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Haseena Parkar, sister of India's most wanted fugitive criminal Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, will be appearing before the police in the next 48 hours, her counsel Shyam Keshwani said here today.

Refuting police allegations, Mr Keshwani told UNI that Parkar was not absconding and was very much in the city. ''No arrest warrants were served against my client,'' he added.

The fact is the city police had served summons to record Parkars statement. Incidentally, when the police yesterday visited her Nagpada residence, they failed to find her, Mr Keshwani said.

Earlier, a local developer Vinod Avlani had filed a complaint against eight persons, including Parkar for cheating him of Rs 30 lakh.

Avlani and his partner Jayesh Shah were involved in a slum rehabilitation project at Antop Hill with the eight persons named in the complaint.

Subsequently, Shah had issued demand drafts of Rs 10 lakh to each of the eight members, including the Shuklas, who formed the SRA society. But the project didn't materialise and the Shuklas didn't return the money, a senior police officer here said.

Later, whenever the duo confronted the Shuklas demanding the money back, the Shuklas allegedly used Parkar's name to threaten them, sources said.

Ironically, in their anticipatory bail plea, the Shuklas alleged that in September 2006 Avlani and Shah had approached them for a SRA project. The duo were promised of Rs one crore to start the work and initially Rs 30 lakh were paid to them.
