Nalco net profit surges 52.39 pc in FY06-07

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) today recorded a 52.39 per cent jump in net proft at Rs 2,380.70 crore for fiscal 2006-07 as compared to Rs 1,562.20 crore in the corresponding period previous year.

The flagship Public Sector Unit of the Ministry of Mines, has achieved the highest ever turnover of Rs 6,516.78 crore during FY06-07 as against Rs 5,324.16 crore last year, registering an increase of 22.40 per cent, a statement said.

The company's 960 MW captive power plant achieved a record power generation at 5,968 million units as compared to 5,679 million units in 2005-06.

Nalco has injected a fresh investment of Rs 5,100 crore towards it's second phase of expansion and will upgrade the present capacity of bauxite mines from 48 lakh tonnes to 63 lakh tonnes.

Nalco is also actively exploring a joint venture project abroad to make aluminium based on its surplus alumina, the statement added.
