Myanmar Army visits 3 Corps

Kohima, Apr 25 (UNI) An 18-member Myanmarese Army delegation led by Brig Gen Tin Maung Ohn visited the Headquarters of 3 Corps at Rangapahar near Dimapur yesterday, according to defence sources here today.

The delegation had a meeting with the Indian Army led by 3 Corps Chief of Staff Maj Gen Mahavir Singh and discussed various issues, including cross-border insurgency, arms smuggling and border management, the sources said.

Nagaland along with Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh share an international boundary with Myanmar and the deep forests of the neighbouring country were being used as hideouts by various outfits.

Defence sources said these meetings were held twice a year to review and strengthen the relations between the two countries.

The next meeting would be held in Myanmar, the sources said.
