Mother seeks protection from son under Domestic Violence Act
New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) In an unique complaint under the Domestic Violence Act, an elderly woman has sought police protection from her son, as he had been allegedly threatening and abusing her.
The Protection Officer appointed by a special women's court to look into the case, resigned after being allegedly harassed by the son.
The judge Neerja Bhatia directed the officer to record her statement tomorrow.
The complainant, Krishna Kumari, 80, a widow said her son Sushil Kapoor had been threatening to throw her out of her own house in Malkaganj ever since he moved in with her. Several years he had also sold off her shop, against her wishes.
Acting on her complaint, the court had appointed a protection officer to probe into the case. The officer however quit after she was allegedly threatened by the son, when she went to the house to make enquries.
