Vadodara, Apr 25 (UNI) The father of two men killed in the infamous ruby case today sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Baroda Police Commissioner P C Thakur.

In his memorandum Lalit Chandra Thakkar complained the investigation carried by Sayajigunj Police Inspector Y A Sheikh was not done in pursuit of the truth and alleged the PI's involvement in the case that led to killing of his two son.

In this connection, Lalitbhai cited a personal letter written to him by a constable of the Sayajigunj police station which alleged that PI Sheikh had taken large amount of bribe from many accused and there was an attempt to scuttle the investigation in the ruby case.

It may be recalled the ruby which belogned to Samir Jagot of Rajkot was given to Lalitbhai's two sons Darshan Thakkar and Mihir Thakkar and two others for being evaluated. Two others, who were involved are - Balakrishna Patel and Jayanti Patel, the latter finally killing the two brothers and Balakrishna to possess the ruby.

Lalitbhai has charged that when a complaint was filed on the same day, when his sons went missing, he had contacted Mr Sheikh and failed to get a positive response. Afther that he had frequently come to the police station to enquire about the progress of the case. He said Sheikh was abusing him and mockingly told him that his two sons are robbers and so too their father. Finally the bodies of his two sons were recovered a month later from a field in Santrampur in Panchmahals district and the investigation ironically was handed over to Shekih, Lalitbhai said in his memorandum.

Sheikh is now holding temporary charge of Fatehganj police station as PI A M Gohil is on 20 days leave.
