Live-explosive devices washed ashore; defused
Ramanathapuram, Apr 25 (UNI) A box with live explosive devices, washed ashore at the Mandapam Refugee Camp, was seized and defused today.
Police said an inmate of the camp spotted the consignment early this morning.
The District Superintendent of Police, along with a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, rushed to the camp.
However, the squad could not ascertain whether the five explosive devices were shells or catridges. The thermocool box containing the explosives could have been thrown into mid sea, police added.
A special team from Madurai, with experts in handling explosives, landed here later in the day and defused the devices.
