Khandu calls on Prime Minister
New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) Newly-elected Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorji Khandu today called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and held a half-an-hour-long meeting with him on a number of developmental projects across the state.
Later in the day, Mr Khandu apprised Home Minister Shivraj Patil of the law and order situation in the state.
During his meeting with Mr Patil, Mr Khandu requested the minister for deployment of more Central forces in the wake of growing threat from the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and Nationalist Student Council of Nagaland (NSCN).
The CM also met Power Mnister Sushil Kumar Shinde, requesting him to speed up the implementaton of the various power projects at the centre.
Mr Khandu discussed border issues with Defence Minister A K Anthony.
He also called on Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and requested him to set up a Doordarshan centre in the State.
During his meeting with Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni, the CM placed a long list of the places to be put in the tourist map, wooing the foreigners to Arunachal Pradesh.
The CM also apprised Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes of the development in the state.
On his last visit to the national capital, just before assuming charge of the Chief Minister, Mr Khandu had a meeting with the Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the governemnt formation and various other issues.
The CM is here on a two-day visit and is expected to leave for Itanagar on Friday morning.
